Castleton’s spectacular display of Christmas spirit will be kicked off on Saturday 16th November with the annual lights switch on.
Three Roofs Café will once again be opening late to provide a retreat from the elements - offering hot and cold food and drinks, perfectly situated opposite the Castleton Visitor Centre at the end of the main road of festivities. The Castleton lights switch on includes a festive market, Morris dancers and Christmas Tree Festival at ST Edmund's Church, culminating in Santa arriving on a sleigh pulled by horses in order to do the honours and switch on the lights – all happening a stone’s throw away from the Three Roofs.
With the switch on itself happening at 4:30pm, the village does tend to get very busy, so we do recommend arriving early. There are plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained.
Over the festive season there will be Santa’s Grotto and Carol Concerts taking place in Castleton, as well as a Craft Fayre at Hollowford Centre on Saturday 7 December, and the beautiful Christmas Tree Festival at St Edmunds Church from Saturday 16 November to Sunday 15 December.
