Popular Three Roofs Café under new ownership

The award-winning Three Roofs Café in Castleton is under new ownership, with local Derbyshire girl, Lynn Sykes, going back to her roots and taking over the helm of the popular Peak District café.

Three Roofs Café

Three Roofs Café has been at the heart of the village for 50 years and is well-known for offering great food and a warm atmosphere to customers. The muddy boots and dog-friendly café has a menu to suit all and offers space for over 50 diners inside and outside to take advantage of the sunny days and the beautiful scenery.

The café occupies a lovely spot in the heart of the beautiful village of Castleton, complete with a well-equipped kitchen and even an on-site bakery, allowing for everything to be freshly produced from the pies to lasagnes, to home-made cakes and tea-time treats.

The café currently employs a team of eight, all original staff who were retained when Lynn acquired the business. Already, however, Lynn is on the look-out for three more part-time members of staff to join the team for the summer months.

Lynn has fond memories of the Three Roofs Café visiting there as a child and long dreamt of running the popular café, so much so that when the business came up for sale she jumped at the chance to purchase it.

Excited to now be the new owner, Lynn said: “I used to really love visiting here as a child, I actually have to pinch myself now that I am here running it.”

She is a qualified chef and founded her first catering business at just 20-years-old, which she ran for 10 years before selling it and then running a couple of other businesses in Matlock and Chesterfield over the next 10 years and then recently a stint as a letting agent, but catering is her passion and she’s delighted to return to her roots at the Three Roofs Café.
